Good morning people, the first day in New York was amazing. We had an early start on Monday, at 9 am we took the subway to Broadway. Taking the subway was just a great way to get the real American feeling, every single person who lives in this enormous city will take the subway to get where they need to go.

When we arrived on Times Square, I really got an amazing feeling once again. The same one I had a couple of years ago. New York truly is an amazing city. After that moment we separated into smaller groups to get some breakfast, it was a lot more fun this way because almost all of the New Yorkers citizens will eat at some place in the city, as long as it is not at home. And no, we did not have an Mc Donald breakfast. We might be in New York but I did not eat what most Dutch people think what all American citizens eat. We had breakfast at a lovely restaurant on Broadway.

After breakfast we met the other people of our group again and we did some sightseeing in the city, we went to Rockefeller center and saw a lot of things on Broadway of course. During this I got a little irritated when the whole group was together, so I wanted to do some sightseeing by myself. Fortunately, there were to more people who felt the same way, and they tagged along. Then it was time to go and see a little part of Central Park, which is nice because in my opinion it is a beautiful piece of nature in such a massive city. The thing I liked the most about it was that it was very quiet in the park. Something you wouldn’t expect when you are in the city that never sleeps. You could hear the traffic in the background of course, but it wasn’t disturbing it was very soothing.

But, the thing I am most proud of, is that I bought my Broadway musical ticket for tonight. Because you cannot have been to New York as a musical lover, and not have seen a musical. It still is a fact that Broadway is famous for its musicals and theater plays.

Goede morgen allemaal. Gisteren was onze echte eerste dag in de grote stad New York. We waren echte vroege vogels want om 9 uur in de morgen zaten wij al in de metro richting Broadway. Toen we op Times Square uitstapten had ik weer het zelfde gevoel als wat ik de keer hiervoor had toen ik in New York stond, ‘wat is dit toch een geweldig mooie stad’. Na dit moment splitsten wij ons op in kleine groepjes om ergens even te gaan ontbijten. Nee, we hebben niet het volgens de Nederlanders het stereotyperende Amerikaanse Mc Donalds ontbijt gehad, maar we hebben gewoon in een leuk restaurantje op Broadway ontbeten.

Vervolgens hebben wij de groep weer opgezocht en zijn wij met de groep richting Rockefeller center gegaan. Daarna begon ik mij een beetje te ergeren aan het alles samen doen met een hele grote groep, dus ik besloot alleen op pad te gaan. er waren twee anderen die er ook zo over dachten en die gingen dus ook mee. We zijn toen naar Central Park gegaan om een klein stukje van dit enorme park te zien. Wat toch wel echt bijzonder is, zo’n groot stuk natuur midden in zo’n grote stad. Het meest bijzondere vond ik misschien nog wel, dat het zo stil was in het park. Je staat namelijk wel midden in New York. Er was natuurlijk wel wat geluid op de achtergrond, maar dit was te verwaarlozen.

Het meest trotse wat ik gedaan heb, is een kaartje voor een Broadway musical te kopen voor vanavond. Je kan natuurlijk niet als enorme musical fan, New York verlaten zonder één gezien te hebben. Ik heb een kaart gekocht voor de musical Chicago en ik heb er nu al enorm veel zin in.

Nou dit was alles weer voor nu…..
